Beschreibung
This concerto, originaly writen for solo oboe and orchestra
in C minor, has enjoyed a large degree of popularity over
the years in it´s original form and in the form of
transcriptions for various combinations, the oldest
transcription or arrangement being, probably, from
Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) for harpsicord solo in
D minor. Since the classical guitar does not have any
original concerto literature from the baroque period, this
composition is a lovely addition to the repertoire and will
help to fill the gap in this area.
From the three original movements of this concerto, the
second one – Adagio – seems to be the most popular and is
often heard as a duo for two guitars or in combinations
like oboe and guitar, recorder and organ, and flute and
piano. The Jovan Pesec arrangement and edition of the
entire concerto, offers the guitarist a chance to perform
a composition for guitar and small string orchestra that is
not only beautiful, but presents an alternative to the over
performed Vivaldi lute concerti of this epoch.
